Senior Quality Engineer (Electronics Manufacturing)

About the Role

We are partnering with a leading global electronics manufacturing organization seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to drive quality excellence across complex PCBA and system-level production environments.

In this high-impact role, you will act as a critical liaison between internal teams, suppliers, and customers—leading data-driven investigations, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring strict adherence to quality standards. A key focus will be supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives, ensuring seamless transitions from design validation through production ramp.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier quality management across components and materials, ensuring compliance with internal and customer quality standards
  • Conduct supplier qualification, onboarding, and audits (system, process, and product) to assess production readiness
  • Own Incoming Quality Control (IQC) processes, including inspection criteria, defect analysis, and material disposition (MRB)
  • Drive supplier corrective actions (8D/CAPA), including root cause analysis, containment, and effectiveness validation
  • Support real-time production containment activities for supplier-driven quality issues impacting SMT/PCBA lines
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, SMT, QE, PE, Planning, and Program Management teams
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics (PPM, defect rates, audit scores) and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support NPI builds, including supplier readiness, First Article Inspection (FAI), and risk mitigation
  • Analyze defect trends and implement preventive actions to improve process capability and reduce repeat issues
  • Ensure supplier compliance with ISO standards, customer requirements, and internal quality systems
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits with proper documentation and traceability
  • Act as a key escalation point for supplier-related quality issues impacting production
  • Lead supplier scorecard development and performance management
  • Coordinate rapid resolution of material and component issues affecting manufacturing output

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in yield, test, and defect data analysis
  • Deep knowledge of SMT, PCBA manufacturing, PIH, testing, and RMA repair processes
  • Solid understanding of electronic theory, analog/digital circuits, and system architecture
  • Hands-on experience with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards
  • Proven ability to lead root cause analysis and cross-functional corrective actions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders internally and externally
  • Strong customer-focused mindset, especially in escalation management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting NPI programs and production ramp-ups
  • Background in semiconductor (silicon) manufacturing or testing environments
  • Familiarity with mechanical manufacturing processes
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma, Lean, or CQE
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
