Application Database Administrator

Seeking an Application DBA to handle and maintain Oracle databases and applications, such as EBusiness, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Hyperion, OBIEE, WebLogic, and Retek.

Duration: contract position/12 months

Work location: Houston (onsite)

Duties:

• Capacity planning, tool management, ongoing tuning, backup and recovery, migrations, security enforcement, and patch management.

• Troubleshoot issues, understand technology relationships, and adhere to best practices for high availability infrastructure, load balancing, application clusters, access management, and application deploy processes.

• Interact with cross-functional groups to ensure reliable system performance & smooth application integration.

• Maintain run docs, including standards, procedures & technical diagrams.

Exp./skills:

• At least 6yrs. of hands-on exp. as a WebLogic Administrator (with SQL & data conversion exp.) in an enterprise environments.

• Expertise in WebLogic server installation, configuration, clustering, deployment, patching & performance tuning.

• Strong knowledge of JDBC, JMS, JNDI & security configuration within WebLogic.

• Proficient with troubleshooting, log analysis & root cause resolution for production systems.

• Solid SQL development skills including query optimization, stored procedures, triggers & performance tuning (Oracle/SQL Server/DB2).

• Exp. with data conversion & migration projects, including bulk data handling, transformation & validation.

• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments for scripting, monitoring, and automation.
