About The Role As a Principal Front End/Full Stack Developer within Fidelity’s Quantitative Development team, you will serve as a pivotal technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated web applications that support critical investment processes. Your role involves working closely with quantitative analysts, portfolio managers, and cross-functional technology teams to create robust, scalable, and intuitive solutions that enhance decision-making capabilities in areas such as portfolio construction, risk management, and alpha research. You will oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and architecture design to deployment and maintenance, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet the strategic objectives of the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, and deploying complex, scalable web applications.
• Proven track record leading full software development lifecycle projects, including requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
• Expertise in modern front-end frameworks, particularly Angular and its ecosystem; experience with React or Vue.js is advantageous.
• Strong proficiency in back-end development using Python and frameworks such as Django or Flask.
• Extensive experience with relational databases like Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server, with strong SQL skills.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and software design patterns.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with product managers, UX/UI designers, and technology partners.
• Experience with data visualization libraries and UI component libraries to create engaging and effective user interfaces.
• Background in financial services, with an understanding of investment risk; progress towards FRM or CFA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of complex full-stack web applications, ensuring alignment with business needs and technical standards.
• Define and own the technical architecture for both new and existing applications, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
• Provide technical mentorship and leadership to team members, establishing coding standards and conducting code reviews to uphold quality.
• Collaborate with quantitative analysts, business stakeholders, and other technology teams to translate complex requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Implement best practices in software development, including version control, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance application performance and security.
• Participate in cross-team initiatives to improve development processes, tools, and overall team productivity.
