Company Description

Yumi Health builds AI that lets healthcare professionals focus on patients instead of paperwork. Our engine integrates directly into clinical and administrative workflows — cutting data-management overhead for healthcare facilities without ever sending their data off-site. Privacy is a product requirement: your information stays yours, and the technology works exclusively for you.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Senior Software Engineer role in California. You’ll design, build, and maintain the systems that power Yumi’s AI platform — from backend services and data pipelines to the interfaces clinicians touch every day. Expect to work across the stack, partner closely with cross-functional teams, ship production-quality code, and help shape the engineering practices of an early-stage team.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $160,000 — $300,000, depending on experience and level.
  • Annual performance bonus: 8%–20% of base.
  • Equity: meaningful equity grant on a standard vesting schedule.

Qualifications

  • Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
  • Proven track record in building and operating scalable backend services in production.
  • Fluent in at least one modern backend language (e.g. Python, Go, TypeScript, Rust) and sound OOP / API design.
  • Experience across the full stack — comfortable jumping from a database schema to a React component in the same PR.
  • Demonstrated ownership across the software development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and on-call.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Analytical, pragmatic, and quality-focused — you ship, you measure, and you iterate.

Preferred

  • Hardware / embedded experience — firmware, device integration, sensors, or building the software that runs on custom hardware. Yumi is increasingly a hardware + software company and engineers who can cross that boundary have an outsized impact.
  • Full-stack depth — shipped user-facing features end-to-end, including meaningful frontend work (React, TypeScript, Swift, or similar).
  • Familiarity with healthcare technology, clinical workflows, or HIPAA-bound systems.
  • Hands-on experience integrating or evaluating modern AI/LLM systems in production.
  • Experience in a fast-moving startup — comfortable with ambiguity and direct ownership.
