Systems Engineer
Job Description
ECS is seeking aSystems Engineer to work in our Arlington, VA office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon additional funding.
ECS Federal has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer for a Department of Defense (DoD) Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment located in a contractor facility. The ideal candidate will have a sound technical background; a willingness to learn; experience with complex DoD systems; and a strong understanding of how to address DoD STIGs.
Candidates must be adaptable; take ownership of tasks and deadlines; work well without supervision; commit to high quality results; and provide common sense technical solutions. They should have a track record of self-improvement and continuous learning. Well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Deploy and maintain a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment
- Collaborate with the project manager to maintain the project schedule
- Ensure continuity of operations for all components and applications
- Be responsible for repairs, upgrades, patches, and vulnerability mitigations
- Install, configure, and monitor DoD tools like ESS and ACAS
- Implement DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
- Control changes IAW the configuration management plan
- Monitor and analyze logs and vulnerabilities IAW DoD policy
- Create and update virtual desktop and server images
- Analyze system performance and take appropriate corrective actions
- Backup components IAW the contingency plan
- Deploy and utilize SolarWinds applications
- Manage and resolve customer tickets
- Evaluate and test products IAW mission requirements
- Play an active role in incident response and security assessments
- Support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities
- Produce and update required documentation
- Foster teamwork and collaboration
- Conduct other duties as needed
Ability to master the following:
- Windows engineering (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SQL, etc.)
- Hypervisors (Nutanix Acropolis, VMWare, etc.)
- SolarWinds, ESS, ACAS, STIGs, SCAP
- Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD)
- Citrix Application Delivery Controller (ADC)
- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
- Wyse Management Suite (WMS)
Required Skills
- U.S. Citizen with DoD SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field of study
- Working knowledge of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for server, client, and application hardening
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Professional attitude and superb customer-facing skills
- Ability to interface with all levels from end-users to senior management
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Windows Operating systems
- Qualify for DoD IAT Level II within 6 months of hire
- One of the following: CCNA Security, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, CND, SSCP
- One Windows certification
- Demonstrated ability to understand the system and its environment of operations
