About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled AI/ML Engineer to join our AI Research organization at General Motors. In this role, you will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of machine learning to address complex challenges in autonomous driving. Your work will involve implementing and experimenting with state-of-the-art algorithms, contributing to the development of GM’s autonomous vehicle platform, and publishing research findings at top-tier conferences. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects that influence the future of transportation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop advanced AI solutions that enhance vehicle capabilities and safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Strong programming skills in Python and PyTorch, with the ability to produce high-quality, production-ready code.
- Experience applying machine learning techniques to real-world systems or large-scale datasets.
- Experience working with model training pipelines or large-scale data processing workflows.
- Proficiency with ML building blocks such as MLPs, transformers, and loss functions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and prototype advanced machine learning approaches, including foundation models, diffusion, image/video generation, self-supervised learning, imitation learning (IL), and reinforcement learning (RL) to advance autonomous driving capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to foster innovation and integrate ML solutions across projects.
- Represent GM externally through publications, patents, and participation in top AI/ML conferences to showcase research achievements.
- Participate in code reviews, documentation, technical discussions, and academic literature review to ensure engineering quality and facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of autonomous vehicle systems through experimental validation and iterative improvement of algorithms.
