About The Role The Staff Machine Learning Engineer role at TE Connectivity is a pivotal position within the Data and Devices Business Unit, focused on advancing artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives. This role involves supporting the development, testing, and deployment of machine learning models that address engineering and business challenges. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in software engineering and data analysis, with a passion for applying machine learning techniques to real-world problems. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to develop scalable ML solutions, improve workflows, and integrate advanced models into existing tools and systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge innovations that redefine data processing and analysis across compute, networking, and cloud infrastructure environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years, Master’s degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn
  • Proficiency with data analysis libraries like pandas and NumPy
  • Knowledge of data pipelines, model evaluation, and experimentation in machine learning
  • Understanding of software development practices including version control and testing
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Effective collaboration skills within cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn new technologies
  • Ability to travel occasionally, up to 10%, for team meetings or training

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and testing of machine learning models tailored for engineering and business applications
  • Assist in data preparation, feature engineering, model training, and validation processes
  • Evaluate model performance and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of ML pipelines and workflows for repeatability and scalability
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented software code supporting ML applications and data workflows
  • Integrate ML models into internal tools, platforms, or engineering systems to enhance functionality
  • Assist with debugging, testing, and optimizing software and model performance
  • Participate in code reviews and adhere to software development best practices
  • Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify patterns, trends, and insights for process improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand complex engineering and business problems and translate them into data-driven solutions
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and technical summaries to communicate findings and recommendations effectively
  • Engage with team members and domain experts to foster knowledge sharing and continuous learning
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in machine learning methodologies, tools, and industry trends
