About The Role The Application Support Specialist at Memorial Healthcare System plays a vital role in managing and supporting both clinical and business applications that underpin daily operations. This position involves overseeing the administration of moderately complex applications, ensuring their optimal performance, and facilitating seamless integration with clinical workflows. The role requires collaboration with vendors, technical teams, and end-users to design, configure, test, and implement application enhancements and updates. The Application Support Specialist is also responsible for analyzing operational data, developing reports, and identifying opportunities for process improvement to enhance overall system efficiency. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the technological backbone of a leading healthcare provider, supporting initiatives that directly impact patient care and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant experience in healthcare application management or support is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of clinical and business systems, database management, and programming languages used in healthcare applications is essential. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders are critical. Familiarity with healthcare regulations, data security standards, and compliance requirements is also preferred. Certification in healthcare IT systems or project management (such as HIMSS, PMP) will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support clinical and business applications, ensuring their stability, security, and optimal performance.
  • Coordinate application projects, including upgrades, configurations, and new implementations, in partnership with vendors and internal teams.
  • Provide end-user support through classroom and virtual training sessions, ensuring users are proficient in application functionalities.
  • Collaborate with associate application analysts to develop skills and deepen understanding of complex systems within Memorial Healthcare System.
  • Design and maintain reports to communicate system performance, identify issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Partner with other application management teams and vendors to identify synergies, optimize workflows, and implement upgrades or configuration changes accurately.
  • Conduct data analysis, generate reports, and develop operational documentation to support decision-making and process improvements.
  • Build and modify applications or modules using appropriate programming languages, ensuring they meet user requirements and operational standards.
  • Participate in vendor selection processes, data management initiatives, and process improvement projects related to assigned applications.
  • Develop and validate digital tools to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Contribute to the design, upgrade, and documentation of clinical and business systems, translating business needs into technical requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing application support by collaborating with technical experts, vendors, and IT teams to resolve issues and implement enhancements.
  • Oversee data archiving, security administration, and management of electronic data received through applications.
  • Stay current with operational workflows supported by applications, ensuring continuous alignment with clinical and business needs.
