About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in building and managing cloud-based infrastructure, with a focus on automation, scalability, and security. This role involves overseeing development cycles in an integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) environment, implementing process monitoring, and fostering a “safety culture” within our DevOps practices. As our user base continues to double annually, you will play a critical role in orchestrating a reliable, sustainable, and scalable infrastructure that supports rapid growth and innovation.
The Sr. DevOps Engineer will collaborate closely with development, product, and operations teams to ensure seamless deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of our systems, ultimately contributing to the delivery of high-quality healthcare solutions.
Qualifications To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a minimum of five years of experience in DevOps, with a strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, and security. A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related field is required. Experience deploying and monitoring web applications within AWS environments is essential, along with a proven track record working collaboratively with development and operations teams to implement best practices.
Candidates should have a security-first mindset, with demonstrated experience in building secure development and testing environments integrated into CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, and automation tools such as CircleCI or GitHub Actions is highly desirable. Experience working in regulated environments with data privacy regulations like HIPAA or GDPR, as well as managing SQL and NoSQL databases, will be considered advantageous. Strong scripting skills across multiple languages including Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby, or Go are also required.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a container-based infrastructure that is scalable, redundant, compliant, and efficient, supporting the broader engineering team.
- Participate actively in our Agile development process to automate deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management within a cloud environment.
- Deeply understand SmithRx’s technical and operational challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop effective solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure secure and reproducible application deployments.
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and perform root cause analysis to prevent future incidents.
- Work closely with developers to ensure application and service architectures prioritize scalability, reliability, and security.
- Proactively organize and ensure high levels of system and infrastructure availability, implementing preventative measures.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning by exploring new technologies, applying best practices, and experimenting with innovative solutions.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and management tools.
- Develop custom scripts to automate repetitive tasks, improve system efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
- Evaluate application performance, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with developers to implement improvements.
- Maintain compliance with security standards and best practices, including HIPAA regulations, to safeguard sensitive health data.
- Make informed decisions regarding technical trade-offs, infrastructure costs, and resource utilization.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems and infrastructure.
