About the Opportunity

The organization is a long-term investor in vertical market software businesses, acquiring and operating software companies with a permanent ownership mindset, emphasizing autonomy, disciplined growth, and long-term value creation. The focus is on healthcare-adjacent verticals, including dental, medical, and veterinary software, as well as solutions serving the service industry and GovTech sectors.

As the portfolio of vertical market software businesses continues to expand, a dynamic and experienced professional is sought to join the team as Managing Director. Reporting directly to an Investment Partner, the Managing Director will be responsible for managing and growing their businesses, with full ownership and accountability. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader capable of driving operational excellence, organic growth and profitability, while fostering collaboration across teams to ensure the successful execution of business strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Business strategy and operations

  • Execute within the operating model based on four pillars: strategy and positioning of the business, operational excellence, growth, and product strategy and technology.
  • Identify, define and execute strategies required to achieve growth plans and operating objectives, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Drive operational efficiency and excellence and enhance scalability across the portfolio of businesses to optimize performance and maximize profitability.
  • Drive revenue growth by identifying and supporting new opportunities and growth strategies, including cross-selling and penetrating new markets.
  • Drive initiatives and solve challenges related to sales, customer success and research and development within the portfolio of businesses.
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction and retention by ensuring strong solutions, service delivery and customer support within the portfolio companies.
  • Ensure portfolio companies have clear product roadmaps established and executed on, balancing investments in research and development with maintenance to maximize new customer growth while retaining existing customers.
  • Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive product strategies aligned with market trends and the business objectives of the companies in the portfolio.

Financial management

  • Assume P&L responsibility and focus on achieving key financial metrics related to revenue, ROI, EBITDA, customer retention, etc.
  • Manage capital allocation and ensure efficient financial management of the portfolio companies, including on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Building effective teams

  • Build, coach and lead high-performing teams within the portfolio companies.
  • Cultivate a culture of performance, continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation.
  • Provide clear direction and motivate teams toward achieving key milestones and delivering measurable results.

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 6 years’ experience in management consulting and/or experience in a technology or software business.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, economics, or any other relevant field.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) (a strong asset).
  • Relevant experience as a business operations leader with a commercial, customer centric and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: sales (customer acquisition, market penetration), customer service (support and professional services), product development (research and development) (an asset).
  • Financial acumen (P&L management, budget, forecast).
  • People-centric leader with experience successfully building, leading, developing, and mentoring a high performing team.
  • Experience mobilizing people toward a common goal.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and drive results.
