About Swan Hellenic

Swan Hellenic is a 5-star luxury expedition cruise line originally founded in 1954 and relaunched in 2020 with a bold vision for cultural expedition cruising. Operating a modern fleet of three purpose-built, Polar Class 5 ice-class vessels — SH Minerva, SH Vega, and SH Diana — the company delivers immersive voyages to some of the most remote and extraordinary destinations on Earth, from Antarctica and the Arctic to Asia-Pacific, West Africa, and beyond. Headquartered in London with offices across Europe, North America, Hong Kong, and Sydney, Swan Hellenic is in a period of record growth, reporting 53% year-over-year increases in guest numbers and 66% growth in net revenue during its most recent Antarctic season.

Role Overview

Swan Hellenic is seeking a Financial Controller to take full ownership of the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls across a complex, multi-entity, multi-currency global structure. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will be the operational backbone of the finance function — ensuring the integrity of financial data, driving timely and accurate reporting, and building the processes and systems needed to support a rapidly scaling international business. This is a high-impact role for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments where precision and agility must coexist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full accounting cycle across all entities, including month-end close, consolidations, and intercompany eliminations

  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and/or US GAAP

  • Manage multi-currency accounting and foreign exchange reporting across operations in the UK, Cyprus, UAE, US, and Asia-Pacific

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls and financial policies to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance

  • Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and general ledger management across all jurisdictions

  • Deliver management reporting packages and variance analysis to the CFO and executive leadership team

  • Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling to support fleet deployment and itinerary planning decisions

  • Ensure tax compliance across all operating jurisdictions, coordinating with external tax advisors as needed

  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements within the finance function

  • Manage and develop a distributed accounting team across multiple time zones

  • Support ad hoc financial analysis for strategic initiatives including new market entry, partnership structuring, and capital projects

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 4 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role

  • Strong technical expertise in IFRS and/or US GAAP, including consolidations and multi-entity reporting

  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-currency, multi-jurisdictional accounting operations

  • CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification required

  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting tools

  • Experience leading external audit processes from preparation through completion

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across a global operation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; advanced degree a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the cruise, maritime, travel, or hospitality industry

  • Background in a high-growth or scaling business environment

  • Familiarity with vessel-related accounting, charter agreements, or maritime regulatory reporting

  • Experience implementing or migrating ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar)

  • Comfort operating in a lean, entrepreneurial organization where building from the ground up is expected

  • Experience managing remote or globally distributed finance teams

Benefits & Perks

  • Fully remote position with flexibility across global time zones

  • Competitive base salary of $250,000 — $280,000 annually

  • Performance-based bonus structure

  • Opportunity to play a foundational role in the finance function of a globally recognized luxury brand during a period of record expansion

  • Travel opportunities aboard Swan Hellenic’s expedition fleet

  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture with direct access to C-suite leadership

  • Swan Hellenic is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building an inclusive team that reflects the global nature of our guests and destinations.
