About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to lead our front-end technical strategy for Coinbase Advanced, our sophisticated trading platform designed for experienced traders. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to influence the development of high-performance, low-latency trading interfaces across web and mobile platforms. As a technical leader, you will collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leadership to define and execute a strategic roadmap that enhances platform reliability, scalability, and user experience. Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing system performance, mentoring engineering teams, and solving complex engineering challenges at the intersection of crypto trading, infrastructure, and consumer products. This position is ideal for a seasoned engineer passionate about blockchain technology, trading systems, and building innovative solutions that shape the future of digital finance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on modern front-end frameworks and mobile environments
• Proven track record of optimizing complex systems, including rendering performance, network efficiency, and state management
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams, including senior engineers
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical challenges into actionable strategies
• Experience with building low latency trading systems is highly desirable
• Knowledge of blockchain technology, including familiarity with onchain activities such as Ethereum addresses, ENS, and dApps
• Experience with decomposing monolithic architectures into microservices
• Proficiency with technologies such as Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, and Postgres
• Experience working in fast-growing organizations, scaling engineering teams from small to large sizes
• Understanding of crypto-forward concepts and blockchain-based services

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to define and execute a comprehensive technical roadmap for the trading platform
• Lead initiatives to develop and maintain low latency, high-performance trading interfaces across web and mobile platforms
• Drive system optimization efforts focusing on rendering performance, network efficiency, and real-time data updates
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development support to engineering team members
• Anchor complex projects, ensuring adherence to high standards for code quality, system design, and security
• Identify opportunities for architectural improvements and implement solutions to enhance platform reliability and scalability
• Stay updated on emerging technologies in crypto, trading infrastructure, and front-end development to inform strategic decisions
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and cross-functional collaboration to promote best practices
