Position Occupational Therapist Competition 2025 003 current opportunity Status Temporary Full Time up to 6 months with possible extension Department Mental Health In Patient Union Association OPSEU Salary 4036 5630Hour Position Summary Under the general direction of the Manager the Occupational Therapist practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario COTO as well as within a patient and family centered care model and the vision and values of the Brockville General Hospital BGH Provides occupational therapy services to enable patients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team The Occupational Therapist participates in in service and hospital wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives Education and Experience Masters andor Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized University Membership in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario COTOMembership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists CAOT and the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists OSOT is encouragedA minimum of three years experience providing direct clinical services within an inpatient andor outpatient mental health interdisciplinary serviceSignificant clinical experience in the assessment and treatment individual and group of Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic Disorders Bipolar and Related Disorders Depressive Disorders Anxiety Disorders providing cognitive behavioural therapy motivational interviewing and dialectical behaviour therapy and other empirically supported modalitiesCurrent BCLS Certificate requiredProof of malpractice insurance as required by COTO is requiredValid class G Drivers License and Ministry of Transportation Drivers AbstractCurrent Assistive Devices Program ADP authorizer is preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation eg Regulated Health Care Professions Act Mental Health Act Personal Health Information Protection Act Health Care Consent Act Substitute Decisions ActDemonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of Occupational Therapy assessment techniques and tools treatment modalities within this patient populationDemonstrated clinical experience using non violent crisis intervention and de escalation techniquesSuperior knowledge of the regional health care system including mental health and addictions services community services and resources eligibility criteria ability to effectively facilitate referrals Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to multiple tasks and set priorities Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills required and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applicationsGood attendance and availability requiredPlease send your current rsum quoting the Competition Number to
