Manager Financial Planning & Analysis – Beverage Packaging Systems – Smyrna, GA

The opportunity:

This role will be a part of the Packaging Machinery and Automation group. This business is a vital piece of the enterprise solution strategy by building and deploying machines globally. These machines bring our companyu2019s and customeru2019s products together for the consumer. Reporting to the businessu2019 Global Senior Finance Manager, the Manager Financial Planning & Analysis for the Beverage Packaging Systems Business is responsible for leading the preparation, development, process improvement, delivery and communication of Financial Actuals, Forecasts, and Plan. This individual will work closely with the Operational Leadership in Atlanta, GA to analyze and explain Profitability and Cost drivers as well as drive improvements to the bottom line. In addition, this role will partner with multiple departments to review detailed financial performance and develop robust and targeted profit improvement project.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Financial Analysis

  • Ownership of month-end reporting and monthly/quarterly forecasting with ad-hoc analysis.

  • Develop understanding of business profitability and key model drivers to deliver profitable growth and margin expansion targets.

  • Coordinate and manage the annual budget development process (Op-ex and Cap-ex).

  • Support finance functional excellence objectives to improve processes, tools, and capabilities.

  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve forecasting processes based on key operational inputs to accurately predict future performance.

Financial Reporting/Internal Control Systems

  • Partner with Controlleru2019s organization to develop timely and accurate results.

  • Develop and maintain documentation of appropriate internal controls applicable to the assigned functional areas.

  • Serve as primary financial partner for all SG&A BUu2019s at the plant with responsibility for developing budgets, monitoring actuals, and any gap closure.

Continuous Margin Improvement

  • Serve as a lead for Cost Review meetings with a cross functional team including Finance, Supply Chain, Technical Sales, Operations with a goal of identifying cost variances and initiating corrective actions.

  • Create reporting/evaluation process to drive accountability for performance and appropriate corrective action to deliver business plan.

  • Provide metrics and analysis to identify and track projectsu2019 margin.

  • Report out to business leadership on project status.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bacheloru2019s degree in Finance or Accounting is required; MBA degree and/or CPA are preferred.

  • 5 years of experience in Finance; Manufacturing and/or Machinery business are preferred.

  • A self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Team player able to influence others to achieve a goal or agreed upon outcome.

  • Ability to effectively organize and analyze large data volumes.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to accuracy, passion for improvement.

  • Demonstrated skills in fact-based analysis and presentation.

  • Strong MS Office skills (particularly Excel and PowerPoint); JD Edwards and Hyperion/Essbase is desired. Exposure to Tableau, Qliksense, Power BI is a plus.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to interact credibly and diplomatically with multiple levels in the organization – tailoring communications effectively for different groups and stakeholders.

  • Desire and proven success working in a team/collaborative environment.

  • Ability to work independently, balancing routine responsibilities with ad hoc requests.

  • Prior Experience in a Multinational Organization is highly desired.
