The State Treasurer’s Office promotes a culture that is a fast-paced environment that supports high performance, exceptional work product, accountability and collaboration. The Procurement and Finance Specialist’s responsibilities include:

  • Assists with the procurement function of the agency. Research products; retrieves and reviews state contract information; solicits quotes from vendors; coordinates office supply inventory; receives or verifies receipt of goods; follows up with vendors on discrepancies.

  • Assists with contract management.

  • Serves as full back up to accounts payables, budgeting and some human resources functions.

  • Completes and submits MBE and MMO forms and reports; monitors agency’s progress in meeting its goals.

  • Acts as the Administration Division’s lead for the Emergency Management and Business Continuity initiatives.

  • Provides support to the Board of Financial Institutions function.

  • Assists in monthly budget reporting, journal entries, and other required reporting to ensure accuracy and completion.

  • Assists with the records management function. Implements the agency’s records retention policy; updates and complies with the agency’s records retention schedule; advises on appropriate filing and retrieval procedures. Coordinates all agency surplus and shredding.

  • Serves as the facilities management liaison. Builds positive relationships with vendors. Places service calls, follows up with users and vendors with maintenance and trouble issues.

Agency Minimum Qualifications*:
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field and professional experience in a related area, such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking.*Candidates must specifically meet the Agency Minimum Requirements or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be considered for this position.Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, theories and terminology of accounting, budgeting, financial management and procurement.

  • Knowledge of state government fiscal accounting and procurement processes.

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and laws applicable to the area of employment.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data and reports.

  • Ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality, exercise good judgment.

Must be able to safely lift and carry files, books and reports weighing up to 20 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for intermittent periods of time. Must be able to reach, bend, and twist at the waist to perform filing, desk work and operate general office equipment.Supplemental questions are considered part of your official application.
