Recruitment/ Employment Specialist
Description of Work This is an INTERNAL POSTING open ONLY to current the NC Department of Public Safety’s current employees and eligible RIF candidates.This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on 9/15/2025.This position reports directly to the Human Resources Manager of the NC National Guard (NCNG). This position will assist the manager in providing HR services for 275 NC National Guard State employees, Temporary Solutions employees, State Active Duty soldiers and airmen, and the general public.The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Providing payroll and time administration in SAP (BEACON); processing hires, disciplinary actions, and terminations; using Salary Administration practices; reporting on EEO; and administering benefits.
- Managing the performance management system (NCVIP), the State Service Awards Program, and the Workers Compensation Program.
- Administering and executing recruitment processes to hire candidates for current openings as well as proactively developing a pipeline for future talent.
- Building positive working relationships with staff members across the Dept. of Public Safety.
- Utilizing the NeoGov Applicant Tracking System to create vacancy announcements, screen a high volume of applications, and refer qualified applicants to hiring managers.
- Preparing and tracking all requests for temporary employees, reconciling invoices to ensure employees are paid for the correct time, and utilizing the Correspondence Tracking System.
- Partnering with hiring managers to understand hiring needs while identifying and resolving challenges.
- Tracking position vacancies and ensuring appropriate and timely posting of vacancies.
- Providing consultation to hiring managers regarding selection of the most qualified applicant, compliance with policy and procedures, Salary Administration, and various other issues.
- Solving problems and making recommendations for a variety of HR issues.
- Coordinating position management information for all NCNG positions which includes compiling, reviewing, and analyzing data as well as processing requests and actions in accordance with HR guidelines and policies.
- Utilizing strong customer service, organization, communication, and decision-making skills.
