This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) – Office of Mental Health, Pee Dee Mental Health Center, 125 E. Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29506, in the ‘Roads of Independence’ (ROI) program. This program is based out of the Florence location at 607 W. Evans Street, Florence, SC and will serve the entire four-county catchment area. This position will require flexible hours and occasional evenings and weekends.
The Office of Mental Health’s mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.Under limited supervision, as the Mental Health Professional, you will provide telehealth, counseling assessments, groups, individual, and family therapy to Youth and Young Adults in the Pee Dee Roads of Independence Program.Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional include:Provide direct counseling, assessments, crisis intervention, and support services to the youth and young adults in the Pee Dee Roads of Independence Program. You will also develop treatment plans with goal, objectives, and intervention utilizing counseling techniques.Maintain productivity at the level described in the Pee Dee Mental Health Center policy by providing services to youth, young adults, and their families.Contact families same day or next day to set up appointments, open cases, and complete initial intakes.Complete all EMR documentation within designated time frame and maintain all required documentation in compliance with QA and Center Standards.Participate in office staffing, supervision, and treatment team meetings to plan, receive, review, and offer suggestions to a team member to help benefit the clients.This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.Minimum and Additional Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other related Social Sciences.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift 5 pounds.
  • Ability to meet OMH credentialing requirements which include specific graduate course work including Psychopathology/Psychopathology Diagnostics/Clinical Assessments – Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) and Medical Ethics.
  • Must be able to show evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum, internship, or post-graduate experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
