diverse K 12 independent school is looking for a full time Middle School Learning Specialist starting July 1 2026 The Middle School Learning Specialist reports to the Middle School Director and qualified candidates should have a Masters degree or PhD in psychology or educational psychology and a minimum of three years of experience The Middle School Learning Specialist is responsible for assessing learning needs developing individualized strategies and implementing interventions or programs that promote academic personal or professional success As such candidates should have deep knowledge of learning differences current and accepted brain research and methodologies and evidence based interventions to support students with learning differences They should also demonstrate cultural competency in their work with students families faculty and staff This role involves working closely with students teachers employees and families to create inclusive and effective learning environments The role is a blend of tutor coach and educational strategist focused on removing learning barriers and promoting academic achievement Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to General Responsibilities Collaborate with administration and staff regarding various discussions and decisions related to students and familiesAttend all Student Support and Wellness meetings and follow up on discussions andor specific implementation strategiesAttend all faculty meetings and follow up on discussions andor specific implementation strategiesAdditional duties such as supervision student advising and chaperoning eventsServe as a member of the divisional administrative teamEngage in professional and personal developmentParticipate and initiate opportunities that demonstrate ones growth knowledge and skillsHold high standards of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive student and family information StudentsParents and Families Collaboration Hold one on one and small group meetings with students to strengthen executive function skills including time management study skills organization work completion communication and self advocacy skillsAssist with assignment planning essay writing and exam preparationSupport an assigned caseload of students focusing on academic skill development and individualized learning strategiesObserve and work with individual students in class and as part of a learning support program Work with students to identify their learning styles and tailor strategies to suit their needsTeach techniques for note taking test taking memory retention and information processingProvide coaching on managing learning challenges such as ADHD dyslexia or executive functioning difficultiesDesign and implement individualized learning plansMaintain accurate records of student progress and interventions and monitor student progressIdentify learning styles of individual students based on meetings observations teacher meetings parent conversations conversations with outside resource providers and psycho educational reportsInterpret psycho educational evaluations to families as neededDemystify learning differences to parents and students who are aware of their learning profile If a psycho educational evaluation is recommended provide the family with an appropriate match and coordinate contactCounsel students as needed with regard to learning and emotional issues Faculty Collaboration Deliver professional development to faculty on inclusive teaching strategiesTeach techniques for note taking test taking memory retention and information processingProvide coaching on managing learning challenges such as ADHD dyslexia or executive functioning difficultiesProvide classroom support to teachers including co teaching and modeling effective instructional strategies and supporting use of necessary student accommodationsInterpret psycho educational evaluations to faculty as neededSpeak with any support specialist regarding progress and plan for communicating concerns during the meetingDistribute currentnew accommodations to teachers and assist them in implementing recommendationsWork as the liaison between school and any additional servicesOther duties as assigned by the division director or the Senior Administrative TeamEducation and Experience Required Masters degree Board Certified Educational Therapist BCET Educational TherapistProfessional ETP through the Association of Educational Therapists AET valid teaching credential mildmoderate disabilities or related experienceMinimum of three years of experience as a learning specialist with students in middle or high school or supporting students with diagnosed learning differencesStrong understanding of evidence based instructional practices and strategies that promote student organization independence and academic successExperience and expertise in reading and synthesizing neuropsychological evaluations Section 504 plans and Individualized Education Programs IEPs Preferred Experience working specifically with middle schoolaged students grades 68Knowledge of current assistive technologies neuroscience research and differentiated instruction to support a wide range of learners While being vaccinated for COVID 19 is not required it is strongly recommended COMPENSATION Brentwood Schools diverse and talented faculty ranges widely in experience level from those new to teaching to veterans who are experts in their respective disciplines with 30 years of experience Our salary range of 93000 133000 includes all levels of experience Salaries are determined based on years of experience education full or part time status and number of months worked per school year Salary ranges do not include
