Brentwood School inspires every student to Think critically and creativelyAct ethically Shape a future with meaning BRENTWOOD SCHOOL Middle School Global Studies Teacher Brentwood School a vibrant and diverse K 12 independent school is looking for a Middle School Global Studies teacher 7th grade to begin in August of 2026 We are seeking an experienced innovative teacher to join our collaborative team The successful candidate will embrace collaborative curriculum design and work closely as part of a teaching team to create and continuously refine curriculum Ideally applicants will be experienced practitioners of backward design based on clearly defined curricular understandings and have experience developing curriculum variations to challenge all learners Exploring vital global and human rights issues this year long course will introduce students to social awareness in an age of globalization The primary goal of the course is to develop students global literacy giving special attention to the geographic historical economic political and cultural forces that produce harmony and conflict across international borders Thematic units form links to the literature and themes in English 7 Student inquiry is guided by the essential question Who holds the power and why Students will examine multiple sources and perspectives with the aim of understanding the complexity and nuance of the human story The course makes extensive use of resources available on the Internet current events and students will be introduced to research skills The course aims to inspire responsible citizens who understand the importance of global interconnectivity and awareness Individuals from independent public private or charter schools with prior experience in and a passion for teaching Middle School students are encouraged to apply A minimum of a college bachelors degree is required; however a masters degree is preferred It is expected that a successful candidate will Teach four sections of 7th grade Global StudiesDesign and coordinate curriculum with other members of the department and within teaching teams for each assigned course and liaise with other departments and centers to build cross disciplinary experiencesMonitor and evaluate students progress and communicate with parents and Middle School teams regarding student progressExhibit knowledge of course content current trends pedagogy research and topics of importance in history pedagogy by applying it in the classroom and sharing it with teachers on a departmental and school wide basisParticipate in regular purposeful pedagogy meetings and professional development sessionsEngage and support students of varied identities lifestyles and beliefsCreate an environment that fosters open discussion with the freedom to express varied points of view Create lessons and projects that are inclusive of the diversity and multiculturalism in our communityCommunicate effectively with students parentsguardians and colleaguesParticipate and initiate opportunities that demonstrate ones growth knowledge and skillsPerform additional duties and participate in the life of the school In addition a candidate should possess the following personal qualities Commitment to professional growth and to high professional standardsCommitment to fairness and to fostering community FlexibilitySense of humor warmth of personality and energyAn interest in and openness to professional growth and developmentStrong collaboration and cross cultural competency While being vaccinated for COVID 19 is not required it is strongly recommended COMPENSATION Brentwood Schools diverse and talented faculty ranges widely in experience level from those new to teaching to veterans who are experts in their respective disciplines with 30 years of experience Our salary range of 82000 to 135000 includes all levels of experience Salaries are determined based on years of experience education full or part time status and number of months worked per school year Salary ranges do not include benefits ie 403b retirement matching paid lunch time free breakfast and lunch free parking subsidy toward medical dental vision lifeAD&D plans and generous time off The pay range is an estimate and is not guaranteed If hired your actual base salary will be determined by your education experience and schedule For more Information about our school please visit our website wwwbwscampuscom Apply online
