BOROUGH OF CHAMBERSBURG SESASONAL POSITION OPENING CLASSIFICATION Public Works Part Time Seasonal Maintenance RATE OF PAY 1800 per hour HOURS OF WORK Generally 700 AM 300 PM Monday through Friday To assist in a wide variety of routine maintenance work requiring manual skills in the maintenance of Chambersburg Public Works Departments Highway Division Performs work with general instructions although some specific tasks may require detailed assignment Work is outdoors and involves exposure to the elements Work is performed under the immediate and close supervision of the Highway Supervisor Typical Duties and Responsibilities Manually removing weeds grass and debris from curbs gutters and curb jointsOperates a push mower or riding lawn mower;Ensuring public roads are free of litter debris and safety hazards;Ensuring walkways are clear and accessible for visitors;Use of shovel blower rakes string trimmer and other power tools hand tools as directed;Ensuring all municipal assets including facilities and equipment are kept in a clean professional and well maintained condition through regular upkeep;Minimum Requirements Minimum age 18;Ability to perform manual work in a variety of weather conditions;Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to assignment;Safety oriented with ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely;Ability to understand follow and transmit written and oral instructions;Service oriented with ability to effectively communicate and interact with co workers and the public through personal contact as normally defined by the ability to work see read speak hear and lift objects;Minimum degree of skill in problem solving decision making;Licenses and Certifications Must possess a current valid state drivers license with a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Boroughs PolicyAFFIRMATIVE ACTIONEEO STATEMENT It is the policy of the Borough of Chambersburg to provide fair and equal employment opportunities to all applicants for employment Applicants are recruited selected and hired on the basis of individual merit and ability and without discrimination because of race color religion sex sexual preference age handicap disability veteran status national origin or any other trait protected by Pennsylvania or federal law This description is the present overview of the job and is subject to change by the employer and is to be used as a temporary management guide to performance
