About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to support the development and maintenance of our Enterprise Data Hub within the insurance domain. This critical role involves designing, implementing, and managing scalable data pipelines that facilitate seamless data flow across various insurance systems, including claims, policies, and billing. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in AWS cloud services, data modeling, and ETL frameworks, with a strong understanding of insurance data models and compliance standards. Reporting directly to the Enterprise Data Hub Product Lead, this position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, solve complex data challenges, and deliver impactful insights that drive organizational success.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with data architects, enterprise architects, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with best practices for data governance, security, and change management. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about data development, governance, and operational excellence. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to maintaining high standards of IT control and data integrity, this position provides a rewarding platform to make a significant impact within a forward-thinking organization.

Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess over 10 years of experience in data engineering or related roles within the insurance (re-insurance) industry. Strong hands-on expertise with AWS data services such as Glue, Redshift, S3, Athena, Lambda, and EMR is essential. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data modeling techniques is required, along with experience in ETL tools and frameworks. Familiarity with insurance data domains—such as claims, policies, and billing—is highly desirable. Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and compliance standards like HIPAA and GDPR is also important.

Additional qualifications include experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools such as Git and CodePipeline. While AWS or Solutions Architect certifications are not mandatory, they are preferred. Experience working with data lakes and lakehouse architectures, as well as exposure to BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or QuickSight, will be advantageous. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field is considered a strong plus. Candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support the Enterprise Data Hub, ensuring reliable data ingestion, transformation, and storage across multiple insurance systems. Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather and understand complex data requirements, translating them into efficient technical solutions. Implement data ingestion workflows utilizing AWS services such as Glue, Redshift, S3, Athena, Lambda, and EMR, ensuring high performance and cost-efficiency.

Work with structured and unstructured data, including claims, policy, underwriting, and billing information, to facilitate comprehensive data analysis and reporting. Partner with enterprise architects to align data integration patterns with organizational standards and best practices. Collaborate with infrastructure teams to streamline code deployment, change management, and version control processes, ensuring robust and secure data environments. Maintain data quality, integrity, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle, implementing security measures and governance policies for sensitive insurance data.

Support data cataloging and metadata management initiatives to enhance data discoverability and usability. Optimize data workflows for scalability, performance, and cost savings, continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement. Contribute to documentation, data governance policies, and compliance audits, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations. Stay updated on emerging data engineering technologies and best practices, recommending innovative solutions to enhance the organization’s data capabilities.
