technical excellence drive sustainable success The Opportunity The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading technical delivery across complex automation and control system projects while guiding engineering teams and driving technical strategy This role oversees multiple projects simultaneously and ensures successful execution across technical operational and commercial objectives Working closely with project managers business development teams and company leadership this position provides advanced technical expertise while mentoring engineers and strengthening engineering standards across the organization This role is ideal for experienced automation leaders who enjoy balancing technical leadership project execution and team development in high impact industrial and mission critical environments What Youll Do Core Responsibilities Lead engineering execution for multiple automation and control system projects simultaneouslyProvide advanced technical guidance on system architecture control system design and integration strategiesDrive development and implementation of company wide engineering design philosophies and best practicesCollaborate with Business Development teams to support technical proposals presentations and solution strategiesSupport project teams by providing expert level technical input across engineering operational and financial considerationsMaintain expert level knowledge of evolving technologies and industry best practicesCollaboration & Communication Coordinate with project managers and engineering teams to ensure technical deliverables meet scope schedule and budget expectationsCommunicate effectively with internal teams customers and industry partnersServe as a trusted technical advisor during project planning execution and customer engagementsParticipate in project pursuits technical presentations and proposal development with the Business Development teamShare technical knowledge and provide training to engineering staff across the organizationQuality Safety & Process Lead adherence to Thermo Systems Quality Management System QMS and engineering standardsPromote continuous improvement in engineering workflows and project execution methodologiesReview technical documentation and deliverables to ensure accuracy and consistencySupport development and improvement of company engineering procedures and standardsPeople Leadership Directly lead and develop engineering team members including mentoring coaching and technical guidanceSupport employee development through training feedback and career progression planningManage team workload distribution and ensure resources are aligned with project prioritiesProvide performance feedback manage compensation considerations and support employee retention effortsIdentify staffing needs and support recruiting and team growth initiativesPromote a collaborative positive engineering culture aligned with The Thermo WayWhat Were Looking For Education & Experience Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Computer Science or related technical disciplineTypically 13 years of experience in industrial automation controls engineering or systems integration environmentsDemonstrated experience leading engineering teams and complex automation projectsProfessional Engineering PE license or relevant industry certifications preferredSkills & Qualifications Advanced knowledge of control systems design automation platforms and industrial system integrationStrong leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and develop technical teamsExperience managing multiple projects and engineering teams simultaneouslyStrong understanding of project contracts financial considerations and risk mitigation strategiesProficiency with Microsoft Project or equivalent project management toolsExcellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and executive stakeholdersAbility to balance
