The Ignition Architect serves as Thermo Systems technical authority for the Ignition SCADA platform across European operations In this role you will define SCADA architecture standards system design frameworks and integration strategies while supporting project teams in the design implementation and commissioning of Ignition based control systems This position plays a critical role in scaling Thermos controls delivery capability across mission critical infrastructure projects including hyperscale data centres energy systems and advanced industrial environments The Ignition Architect will guide engineering teams establish platform standards and ensure scalable secure and high performance SCADA solutions across multiple projects This role is ideal for professionals who combine strong technical architecture capabilities with hands on experience in industrial automation and SCADA system delivery What Youll Do Core Responsibilities Define and maintain Ignition platform architecture standards across Thermo projectsDevelop reference architectures for scalable SCADA deployments including redundancy and distributed gatewaysLead design of SCADA systems integrating PLC platforms BMS EPMS and industrial networksDevelop reusable libraries templates and engineering standards to improve project efficiencySupport system integration SCADA configuration commissioning and validation activities across projectsCollaboration & Communication Coordinate with controls engineers SCADA developers and commissioning teams to align architecture design and delivery strategiesProvide technical leadership during project design reviews architecture validation and system integration planningSupport proposal development and technical strategy for Ignition based automation projectsInterface with clients consultants and internal stakeholders during system design and project executionIdentify and escalate technical risks or architectural challenges early in project lifecyclesQuality Safety & Process Establish SCADA engineering standards documentation frameworks and best practicesEnsure system designs align with cybersecurity standards and industrial networking best practicesSupport quality processes including architecture reviews code reviews and system validationDrive continuous improvement of SCADA engineering workflows and deployment methodologiesWhat Were Looking For Education & Experience Bachelors degree in Automation Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or a related disciplineTypically 8 years of experience in industrial automation or SCADA engineering environmentsExtensive hands on experience designing and implementing solutions using the Inductive Automation Ignition platformExperience delivering SCADA systems within mission critical or industrial infrastructure environments preferredSkills & Qualifications Expertise in Ignition Gateway architecture system design and deploymentExperience developing SCADA visualisation using Ignition Vision or PerspectiveStrong understanding of tag architecture alarm management and historian integrationExperience integrating PLC systems such as Rockwell Siemens or Schneider platformsKnowledge of OPC UA architecture and industrial networking protocols including EthernetIP Modbus BACnet and MQTTExperience designing high availability and distributed SCADA architecturesFamiliarity with industrial cybersecurity practices and secure network architectureExperience with Ignition Edge MQTT Sparkplug II or enterprise SCADA architectures preferredStrong systems thinking and technical architecture capabilitiesAbility to mentor engineering teams and guide complex automation implementationsStrong communication skills when working with technical teams
