Barrel Lathe Machinist
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Barrel Lathe Machinist to join a precision manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining barrel lathe machines to produce high-quality machined components in accordance with specifications, safety standards, and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate barrel lathe machines to machine metal components to specified tolerances
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for each job
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Make machine adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
- Perform basic machine maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized
- Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures
- Communicate issues related to tooling, materials, or machine performance to supervision
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating barrel lathes or similar manual/CNC lathe equipment
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tolerances, and measurements
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work overtime as required
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience in a high-volume or industrial manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with steel or heavy metal components
- Prior setup experience
