GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Endorse checks and tax return documents received in order to deposit sales, use, lodging, mineral, and cigarette monies with the State Treasurer’s Office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Responsible for the processing and balancing of the Mineral Severance Tax. This includes processing of payments, data verification for proper posting, distribution and reporting to all entities per statutory guidelines. Incorporate all legislative changes in distributions, including testing and verifications.
  • Responsible for the process and examination of the documentation for the Property Tax Refund program. Review and determine application status for refund approval and processing.
  • Responsible for the processing, collection and posting of all Ad Valorem Monthly taxes and distribution of those taxes to the Counties.
  • Working on documents to ensure the proper calculation is represented for the determination of the status of tax returns and proper posting of payments in the Excise Tax System.
  • Compiling of documentation for the annual Agency financial audit. This documentation is required for the annual samples for auditing of financials for both the Excise Tax and Mineral Tax systems.
  • Other duties as assigned by the agency.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of internal control processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree (typically in Finance)

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician
