About The Role Altec Industries is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Assurance Analyst to join our expanding team in Birmingham, AL. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our software solutions meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and performance. The successful candidate will analyze business requirements, develop comprehensive test strategies, and execute both manual and automated test cases to validate software solutions. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, the QA Analyst will contribute to the continuous improvement of our quality assurance processes, support production issues, and ensure timely delivery of defect-free software. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; however, exceptional candidates with at least five years of relevant work experience will also be considered. A minimum of one year of hands-on QA experience is required, demonstrating the ability to develop test plans, execute test cases, and report findings effectively. Candidates should have a strong understanding of testing methodologies, experience with ALM tools such as Atlassian, and familiarity with test management platforms like TestRail. Knowledge of SQL for data validation, WebDriver/Selenium, or other automation tools is preferred. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and lead or supervise team members. A valid driver’s license and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement are also required.

Responsibilities

  • Attend Agile ceremonies, providing insights into QA dependencies and reporting progress regularly.
  • Review and document application specifications to understand business and technical requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases (manual and automated), and manage dependencies such as data and environment configurations.
  • Determine appropriate test coverage to ensure comprehensive validation without overextending testing efforts.
  • Execute test cases to evaluate software functionality, reliability, performance, and overall quality.
  • Report defects, track their severity and priority, and collaborate with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Verify that identified defects are corrected and validate fixes through re-testing.
  • Provide metrics and reports on quality status, defect trends, and testing progress to stakeholders.
  • Assist in suggesting and implementing improvements to QA standards and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Support and analyze production issues, providing insights and solutions as needed.
  • Document release notes, update training materials, and contribute to QA documentation and procedures.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Remain adaptable to changing priorities and support the team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and quality assurance efforts.
