fairly regardless of their genderThe Planned Giving Officer is responsible for working closely with donors development staff CPAs financial advisors and legal professionals to facilitate estate gifts that align with donor values and organizational goals Principal Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties Develop and implement a comprehensive planned giving strategy for their regionIdentify cultivate and steward donors interested in legacy and estate giftsCollaborate with legal and financial advisors to structure bequests charitable trusts annuities and other planned giving vehiclesDeliver presentations and personalized proposals to prospective donorsMaintain accurate records of donor interactions and gift documentation with discretionCoordinate stewardship and recognition activitiesCreate marketing materials and campaigns to promote planned giving opportunitiesEnsure compliance with all relevant laws regulations and ethical standardsPartner with local USO Operations Center leadership and fellow development staff to support local fundraising events & activationsPrepare and present oral and written reportsOther duties as assignedJob Specifications Bachelors degree in Finance Non Profit Management Business or related services field Masters degree preferred3 years work experience in planned giving or fundraising Relevant experience in a non profit military multicultural andor global organization preferredExcellent interpersonal relationship building and presentation skills Ability to deliver compelling call to action cases to internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levelsKnowledge of estate planning tax laws charitable giving instruments and Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity AccountabilityAbility to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a matrix team environmentAbility to effectively interact with USO Leadership the public and military audiences at a variety of levelsDemonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial andor culturally sensitive subjects Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poiseDemonstrated initiativeself motivation with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needsAbility to manage a high volume of assignments with varying complexity and competing priorities in a fast paced environment with integrity and professionalismProficiency using computers and electronics equipment Working knowledge of various software applications and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Raisers EdgeAbility to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security credit andor background screening SOFA status valid drivers licenseMust be a strong advocate of the USOs missionDetails This position is located in Arlington VA Preference will be given to local candidates
