The Company The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts CAPA is more than just a performing arts organizationits a cornerstone of creativity culture and community in Central Ohio At CAPA we are committed to inspiring and transforming lives through the power of the performing arts With a rich history and a dynamic vision for the future we manage iconic theaters host world class performances and foster a love of the arts in audiences of all ages The Opportunity Are you excellent at planning inspiring others to do their very best and overseeing a team whose job is to provide an environment of creativity and innovation for clients and colleaguesDo you have an entrepreneurial mindset and ready to take the Innovation Franklinton Idea Foundry to new heightsPrimary Function The Director of Operations will oversee several facets of the operation of Innovation Franklinton Idea Foundry This position is the point person for all operating activities for the facility The Director of Operations reports to the VP of Operations The Director of Operations will manage the office leases and co working space and serve as the main point of contact for those individuals and companies Additionally the Director of Operations will manage the makerspace and serve as the main point of contact for the members The Director of Operations will be responsible for creating and managing activities live events and educational opportunities that will drive earned and contributed revenues Duties and Responsibilities First 3 MonthsLearn the current operating model of the organizationDevelop staffing planDevelop new operating model for the makerspaceDevelop new operating model for coworking spaceIdentify capital improvementsDevelop plan to relaunch the co working and office spaceDevelop plan to relaunch the makerspace and membership structureDevelop plan for maintenance and cleaningDevelop and manage operating budget with CAPA finance teamDevelop safety and security standards for the building and various spaces First 6 monthsStaff the organizationImplement plans listed aboveAttract new tenants in the office and co working spaceBuild programming in the 2nd floor event spaceBuild educational activitiesFirst YearSuccessful relaunch of spaceGrowing revenue linesCreating a sustainable business model that shows growth potentialCreating an operating model that meets CAPAs safety and security standards while attracting artists makers and entrepreneursOtherThis job description is not designed to cover or contain an exhaustive list of duties responsibilities and key performance objectives that are expected of the employee These items may change or new job related items may be assigned from time to timeKnowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to solve problems including diplomatic resolution of situations that sometimes arise from public users of the theatreAbility to work well with the public and theatre usersAbility to perform moderate lifting standing bending and kneelingAbility to climb stairs repeatedly throughout course of performance andor workday as necessaryBasic computer skills for email communication record keeping and administrative tasksWorking knowledge of HVAC systems and general building maintenanceCredentials and Experience Bachelors degree in business finance or arts administration preferredTypically 3 5 years of experience with facility operations ideally within the non profit arts industry are needed to have sufficient experience and judgement to perform this role of this size and complexityExperience working with the publicPrior experience managing a staff of 4The base pay for this role is 60000 65000Special Requirements Successful background checkThe majority of CAPAs public events take place at night and on weekends This position requires occasional presence on site during nights and weekends and is on call 247 to respond to emergencies
