Controls Technician

Reporting to the Project Manager, Controls, Security, Automation & Electrical, the Controls Technician works on a variety of equipment and devices to design, program, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair automation controllers/electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in buildings and other structures.
Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and implement automation programming, design graphics, and handle commissioning for new construction projects while providing servicing for existing clients.

Responsible for all Low Voltage Electrical work, including:

Maintenance, service, installation and replacement or repair of motor control centers, switches, panelboard components, low voltage branch circuit wiring, transformers, control devices and IO devices

Troubleshooting and minor repairs on hardware and sensors

Shut-down, lock-out, and start-up of automation systems and building equipment

Provides onsite estimating

Offer expert recommendations for automation solutions

Provides electrical support for the HVAC service team; assist with HVAC control installations in commercial
buildings

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Electrical tor Engineering certificate is recommended
- N4 certified considered an asset
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 10 years of HVAC automation experience in the ICI sector (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial)
- 3 years estimating experience considered an asset
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with, JCI FX, & Honeywell BAS and HVAC systems an asset
- Knowledge of computer software’s such as Microsoft and mobile device applications
- Follows written and verbal instructions
- Maintain a professional demeanor and courteous phone etiquette when interacting with colleagues, customers,
and stakeholders
- Travel to various sites, including out-of-town locations as needed, and be available for occasional overtime
- Physical requirements: bending, lifting up to 30 kg, working at heights, and in confined spaces
- Clean & Valid Class 5 AB Driver’s License and abstract
