As a STERIS IMS Repair Technician, we will train you to service, restore, and repair surgical instruments that are used in various medical settings.
The general responsibilities of Instrument Repair Technician are as follows:
· Our technicians work in comfortable, bright, lab-like environments.
· Service, repair, and restore surgical instruments to original specifications, appearance, and use.
· Accurately examine, test and troubleshoot equipment/tools for defects and other issues.
· Determine the best course of service or repair to renew and get said instrument back to working order.
· Work with equipment and small machinery such as microscopes, grinders, sanders, and sharpeners. Please note that many objects and tools will be sharp and are required to be handled with care.
· To accomplish the repair process, you will follow highly detailed instructions and follow strict procedures to ensure uniformity, safety and overall medical device compliance. Remember, these devices and instruments are being used in surgical/hospital settings and require the utmost care, and attention to detail to ensure the safety of patients!
· Additionally, you will be required to complete workplace organization audits, abide by all STERIS safety, health policies and procedures.
What skills, experience, and abilities will make you successful in this role?

Generally, successful candidates and employees have the following general skills, experience, and abilities:
· A Highschool Diploma or GED is required
· Must be able to work overtime and weekends (Saturdays/ half-days) COULD be required depending on business needs/customer demand.
· English language proficiency
· Minimum 1 year of overall work experience
· Good hand/eye coordination with the ability to handle small (often very small) parts and equipment for long periods of time
· Precision use of your hands with a full range of hand manipulation or dexterity
· Amazing attention to detail. (You can notice things others usually don’t!)
· Comfortable with and have general computer use skills.
· Comfortability doing work that is often repetitive in nature. (Doing the same thing/work multiple times.)
· Able to read, and understand detailed schematics, instructions, and diagrams.
· Comfortable sitting, standing, and bending frequently or for extended periods of time.
·Most importantly, you can follow instructions and stick to strict procedures and processes.
Education Degree
- High School Diploma or GED

· Cellphone/Electronics/Appliance Repair – You’re used to working with small parts and pieces and enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together.
· Nail Technicians – Yes, you read that correctly! Fast, but detailed and intricate work, and you’ve likely used filling tools and sharpeners!
· Mechanic work – Car, Machinery, etc. you’re curious by nature and enjoying troubleshooting until everything is back in working order.
· Assemblers – Comfortable with repetition, used to following detailed instructions and diagrams.
· Others include: Jewelry repair, dental lab technicians, and crafts hobbyist
