Position Summary
Services, restores and repairs surgical devices/instruments and equipment to specifications. Uses standardized, varied, and complex testing procedures; examines and tests mechanisms for defects. Recommends advanced repair solutions to technicians based on expertise of repairs in the product category.
Duties
- Services, restores and repairs surgical devices/instruments and equipment to specifications.
- Identifies problems and uses standardized, varied, and complex testing procedures; examines and tests mechanisms for defects.
- Recommends advanced repair solutions to technicians based on expertise of repairs in the product category.
- Replaces or repairs defective parts. Request parts from stock room.
- Reassembles surgical devices or equipment and tests assembly for conformance to specifications.
- Orders and performs inventory transactions in current role and in all other technician roles.
- Advanced trouble-shoots in each and all products/models of surgical device/instrument within the department. Expert level of troubleshooting.
- Advocates and ensures conformation to all Company safety, health policies, and procedures. Uses personal protective equipment, as required.
- Completes Safety Observations per site requirements.
- Conducts Safety Audits, Serves on Safety Committee, and Champions a “Safety First” Culture. Develops standard work instructions (SWI’s). Performs estimation of repairs for all category models.
- Trains, develops, and evaluates technicians on technician job duties, and provides input to Supervisor and Team Leader to inform Skills Matrix

- High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience
Preferred Experience
Minimum 7 years of work experience in surgical device or instrument repairs.
Skills
- Good eye to hand coordination.
- Ability to assemble small parts.
- Attention to detail.
- Displays Positive Attitude and Confidence.
- Ability to understand repair concepts and follow sequencing or repairs.
- Demonstrates ability to determine correct spare parts required to complete a repair.
- If parts are controlled by inventory numbers, the technician knows and understands parts requisition procedures necessary for repairs in the role and the role of others.
- This position has the knowledge to perform transactions to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Demonstrates advanced proficiency in standardized Metrics such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (SQDC).
- Utilizes advanced technical knowledge in solving complex problems to optimize metrics.
- Demonstrates awareness of costs and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
