Position Summary


Supports multiple projects in the analysis and the synthesis of product and system requirements for translation into system software specifications and architectural solutions for medical devices and data systems. Provides leadership in developing solutions for complex software engineering systems by applying broad knowledge of software design principles and technologies. Ensures software designs, technologies and resulting software solutions comply with applicable standards,regulatory guidances, and best practices for medical device and data systems in served markets. Evaluates new technologies for integration and approaches for adoption to foster innovation in order to better serve our Customers and ensure market leadership.

Duties


  1. As technical expert, supports project teams in development of complex, embedded software solutions to meet customer needs for quality, performance, and usability of medical devices.
  2. Engages in designs and specifications, as needed, to ensure approaches and solutions are well-founded, achievable within project timelines, and utilizing appropriate technologies
  3. Actively explores technology landscape to identify software components, services, and tools which may improve cost, quality, and usability of STERIS products, services, and product development processes.
  4. Conducts or oversees evaluations of new technologies and provides plans for adoption and integration of those which create value
  5. Works across development teams and business functions to foster collaboration in adoption of technologies and development of complex software and device solutions for our Customers
  6. Considers Manufacturability, Installibility, Serviceability, and Maintainability in proposed solutions
  7. Proposes technical roadmap for projects, department, and business unit
  8. Provides independent technical review across business unit and broader organization
  9. Leads technology vision of team; integrates technology into product and contributes to technology roadmap.
  10. Stays informed of relevant standards and may contribute directly in standards development based upon business relevance
  11. Reviews and contributes to business units IP strategy

Education Degree


Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

Required Experience


  1. Requires 15 years of related software development experience with increasing level of responsibility.
  2. Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering required. (A degree in another Engineering discipline may be acceptable with proven software education and/or training and demonstrated software experience.)
  3. Five or more years of experience in the design and development of embedded software utilizing both structured and object-oriented concepts.
  4. Ten or more years of broad experience with embedded, Windows, and Linux based systems.
  5. Ten or more years of experience in design and implementation of multi-tasking/multi-threaded systems.
  6. Ten years of progressive experience in the definition, design, and implementation of software systems.
