Job Summary Carbon Fiber Design Engineer needed for immediate direct hire opportunity in the Portland, ME area! This specialized role is an amazing opportunity for the right person with a growing organization!

The right person will focus on the development and prototyping of high performance, lightweight thermal protection systems and hot structures for Hypersonic Vehicle Design! The candidate who has demonstrated experience and the passion for designing manufacturable structures for the hypersonic flight environment having the up-front knowledge of the advanced material systems is the perfect fit here!

Responsibilities

  • Create innovative high speed flight structures from detailed customer requirements
  • Become the SME of advanced high temperature composite and metallic material behaviors as well as their performance to ensure manufacturability
  • Utilize thermal/structural analysis and verification testing from prototype levels under relevant environments
  • Provide guidance, feedback during the development of new modeling and simulation tools
  • Prepare technical reports to capturing all knowledge

Requirements

  • Degree in Science or Engineering along with over 5 years related experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of one or more: structural design, thermal/structural analysis, hypersonic flight environment, advanced high temperature materials, structural testing, high speed environmental testing
  • 3D CAD/CAE (Catia V5, SolidWorks, NX, etc.) and Finite Element Analysis (HyperSizer, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, etc.)
  • Knowledge of GD&T best practices
  • Exceptional communication both verbal and written
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
