Senior Human Resources Generalist

Remote US working Mountain or Pacific time zone hours

About the Company

Thrively is partnering with one of our long-standing clients, a healthcare technology company that supports mission-critical workflows across the healthcare ecosystem. The company is established, values-driven, and deeply focused on creating a positive employee experience while operating in a regulated, multi-state environment.

They are building an HR function that is practical, people-centered, and operationally strong — and they’re looking for a Senior HR Generalist who thrives in that kind of environment.

About the Role

This Senior Human Resources Generalist role is a hands-on, execution-oriented position responsible for day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, and manager support. You will partner closely with HR leadership and managers across the business to ensure policies are applied consistently, employees are supported fairly, and people processes run smoothly.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Employee Relations & Performance Support

  • Serve as a key HR contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on performance, conduct, and workplace concerns
  • Coach managers on performance management, documentation, and progressive corrective action
  • Support and, at times, conduct employee investigations that are timely, fair, and well-documented
  • Apply good judgment to balance employee experience, compliance, and business needs

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Administer and interpret HR policies in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Partner with the HR team on payroll processing, including serving as backup when needed
  • Support onboarding processes and employee lifecycle changes
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance initiatives
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and flag updates or risks

Training, Culture & Engagement

  • Design and deliver HR-related training (e.g., manager fundamentals, feedback skills)
  • Support engagement initiatives such as surveys, focus groups, recognition programs, and events
  • Champion company values in daily interactions and HR programs

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead or contribute to HR projects such as policy updates, process improvements, or system enhancements
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve the employee and manager experience

What Success Looks Like

In the first 6–12 months, success looks like:

  • Managers trust you as a practical, fair, and steady HR partner
  • Employee relations issues are handled consistently and calmly
  • HR processes run smoothly with fewer errors, delays, or escalations
  • Policies are applied evenly and clearly across the organization
  • The HR team feels supported, not burdened, by day-to-day execution

Who This Role Is Right For

This role is a strong fit for someone who:

  • Has solid, hands-on HR generalist experience and enjoys being close to the work
  • Is comfortable handling employee relations with discretion and empathy
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, even in sensitive situations
  • Balances people needs with compliance and business realities
  • Prefers execution and ownership over strategy decks and abstraction
  • Thrives in a remote, multi-state environment

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of HR Generalist experience

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification

  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices

  • Demonstrated experience handling employee relations matters

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Preferred

  • Experience supporting employees across multiple U.S. states

  • Experience with payroll support (TriNet a plus)

  • Familiarity with tools such as Greenhouse, 360Learning, or similar systems
