Sassa Foods is reimagining African food culture for the next generation. Our first product — Puff Puff (Africa’s Original Donut™) — takes a snack we grew up with and gives it the premium, modern spotlight it deserves. We’re not just selling food — we’re building a brand rooted in Afrocentric pride, Gen Z culture, and bold creativity.
The Role
We’re looking for an Afrocentric Marketing Creative to join our growing team in Philadelphia. This is more than a marketing role — it’s a cultural storytelling role. You’ll help make Sassa Foods feel alive on social media and in the community, through content that celebrates the African diaspora, elevates Puff Puff as a lifestyle, and connects with Gen Z Africans where they are (colleges, Afrobeat concerts, community events, online).
What You’ll Do
- Create TikTok and Instagram Reels that reflect Afrocentric creativity (hero shots, surrealism, lifestyle drops).
- Capture behind-the-scenes Puff Puff content at production runs, pop-ups, and events.
- Make Puff Puff feel like a lifestyle — bigger than food, rooted in Afrobeat, fashion, and community.
- Develop ideas that tie our brand to African culture, diaspora pride, and Gen Z drop culture.
- Engage directly with our community in Philly and beyond (Afro events, student associations, concerts).
- Collaborate with our founder + designer to keep branding sharp and authentic.
What We’re Looking For
- You are African or from the African diaspora (Gen Z/Millennial preferred).
- You live in the Philadelphia area (must be available for shoots, events, and on-site content creation).
- You have a strong eye for culture-first content — think Jacquemus, Topicals, Telfar, Afropunk vibes.
- You’re enthusiastic, creative, and scrappy — ready to build a cult-like brand from the ground up.
- Bonus: You’ve worked with food, lifestyle, or DTC brands, but cultural fluency is the #1 requirement.
Compensation
- Starting retainer: $600/month for first 3 months (part-time).
- Opportunity to grow with the brand as we scale into DTC and retail.
