Part-time Custodian

Primary Function The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts CAPA seeks two part time Custodians to maintain the integrity of CAPAs spaces by providing a clean and safe environment for all patrons and user groups Duties Responsibilities and Key Performance Objectives Removes trash and replaces linersMops waxes and vacuums floorsCleans windows that can be reached from the ground or with extending equipment inside and outCleans and sanitizes restrooms and water fountainsEnsures an adequate supply of cleaning supplies is kept on hand at all timesKeeps the building exterior clean including hosing down entry areas and cleaning accessible lightingFills in at the receptionist desk as neededSets up rental space as needed by user groups Stages in house items for receptions on the reception levelCleans the kitchen on the 6th floor and restocks with simple cleaning suppliesCleans and sanitizes the reception level kitchenWaters & maintains plants in the BoulevardMoves furniture such as desks tables chairs and equipmentDusts fixtures walls and ceilings as directedOperates various powered equipment in the performance of assigned dutiesPerforms other duties as assignedThis job description is not designed to cover or contain an exhaustive listing of duties responsibilities and key performance objectives that are expected of the employee These items may change or new job related items may be assigned from time to timeKnowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to work both independently and as part of a teamAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsSimple knowledge of electricity and plumbingAbility to follow established safety procedures and uses all safety equipment providedAbility to take the initiative in areas that need immediate attentionAbility to stand and walk for long periods of timeAbility to climb stairs and laddersAbility to occasionally lift 70 pounds and more regularly lift 50 poundsCredentials and Experience High school Diploma or equivalentPrevious custodial experience preferredMust be available to work variable days of the week including weekendsSpecial Requirements Background checkThe majority of CAPAs public events take place at night and on weekends This position requires occasional presence on site during nights and weekends and is on call 247 to respond to emergenciesThe part time custodian will be scheduled to work 20 25 hours per week on variable days including weekends based on theatre activity Typical schedule will be Noon 5pm but could vary depending on theatre schedule Requests off will be considered when writing the schedule
