Position Primary Support Partner PSW Competition 2026 044 Existing Status Part Time Department Inpatient Mental Health Salary 2714 2839hour Hours of Work Days evenings nights and weekend shifts 0700 19001900 0700 UNION ASSOCIATION CUPE Position Summary Under the direction of the Registered NurseRegistered Practical Nurse and working as a member of the patient care team the Primary Support Partner performs assigned functions as an unregulated care provider that supports the health care team in assisting patients in activities of daily living and supports the effective operations of patient care areas The Primary Support Partner provides non nursing personal care and related assistance to patients assists the regulated health care professional members of the team in providing a safe and well maintained environment for patients staff and visitors The Primary Support Partner shall provide care consistent with the unit specific duties within the scope of the classification and in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures Requirements Education and Experience Secondary School Graduation Diploma or recognized equivalentSuccessful completion of a Personal Support Worker Program from an accredited educational institutionDemonstrated experience working with a geriatric population andor medical surgical patientsPreference to individuals who have had related clientpatient care experience in a long term care facility or hospitalGentle Persuasive Approaches training and Non Violent Crisis Intervention training preferredSkills and Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to relate in a respectful tactful and sensitive manner with patients staff and visitorsDemonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a teamWork requires periods of walking sitting bending lifting pushing and pulling in order to provide direct assistance to patientsGood attendance and availability required
