Qualified Medication Aide Insulin Certified StoryPoint of Granger Position Summary As a Medication Aide you will assist residents in administering their daily medication Required Experience for Medication Aide High School Diploma or GED requiredPrevious Healthcare Geriatrics Caregiving or experience working with the elderly population preferredAbility to adjust to many types of personalities and situationsMust have aptitude for dementia related situationsRealization that incompetence and errors may have serious consequences for residentsMust have patience tact cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to assist residents based on what cognitive level they are experiencingMust be at least 18 years of ageMust have current CPR and First Aid certificationMust have CMA certificationMust have a TB clearance Responsibilities for Medication Aide Prepare and administer medication and treatments as ordered by physician in accordance with policy and proceduresVerify identity of resident before administering medication or treatmentFollow hand washing policy for medication passing universal precautions and infection controlOrder mediations supplies and equipment as necessary in accordance with established policyRemove expired or discontinued medications for cart and resident apartments as required in accordance with established procedureEnsure medication records are accurate for your shift and keys are always accounted forReview medication sheets for completeness and accuracyReport all discrepancies noted concerning physicians orders medication count or any other unusual situations and complaints regarding resident services and care to your immediate supervisorChart and perform documentation duties are required in accordance with community policy and proceduresAssist in admit transfer and discharge of residents as requestedReview charts for specific treatment medication diet orders etc as neededNotify nurse in charge of changes in resident condition including medication and treatment refusalMake sure work areas medication and treatment cart medication room nurses station etc are maintained in a clean sanitary mannerAlways show courtesy respect and positive attitude to residents familys visitors and associatesReport accidents and incidents observed on the shift they occurred Report suspected abuse immediatelyDocument important events in the 24 hour reportAssist with activities of daily livingEncourage the Social development of each residentAssist with light housekeeping including emptying the trash and changing linensEscort residents to and from dining areas for meals;
