DevSecOps Engineer
The Information Delivery Cloud team at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is looking for a motivated DevSecOps Engineer who’s excited to grow in the worlds of automation, cloud operations, and secure AI‑supported tooling .
In this fully remote role, you’ll help build and support modern CI/CD pipelines, strengthen our security posture, and explore ways AI can make our systems more reliable and efficient. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers across cloud, data, infrastructure, and security—gaining hands‑on exposure to AIOps concepts , automated code scanning , and Infrastructure‑as‑Code.

- Travel to our Chattanooga, TN headquarters may be required for final interviews.

Job Responsibilities
- Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to design, develop, modify, or integrate complex information systems.
- Devises or modifies application systems and procedures to optimize functional requirements including capacity, operating time, response time, and form of desired results.
- Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents programs, subroutines, and scripts.
- May serve one or more project team roles, such as project lead, business systems analyst, or technical lead, for small to medium efforts or manage phases of medium to large efforts.
- Maintains technical skill set for software languages, databases, platforms, operating systems, utilities and networks needed to support work assignments.
- Responds to system failures and performance events by taking appropriate measures to reduce system downtime and eliminate recurrence of problems.
- Regularly provides guidance and training to less-experiencedanalysts/programmers.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required. Equivalent years of experience are determined as one year of technical experience for every year of college requested.
Experience
- 1 year – Experience with information technology concepts, application development methodology, terminology, and standards required
- 3 years – Systems and programming experience required
- 1 year – Expert working knowledge of at least one programming language in use at BCBST.

Design and Implement CI/CD Patterns: Utilize your technical skills to design and implement various CI/CD patterns while adhering to industry standards and policies.

Collaborate with Project Teams: Participate in design and code reviews, offering guidance to ensure project scoping aligns with architectural goals and specifications.

Build Automation Pipelines: Create, develop, and implement solutions to address infrastructure and security requirements.

DevSecOps Consultation: Consult with diverse application and line-of-business partners on DevSecOps requirements.

Security Expertise: Be familiar with application security scanning tools, preferably Checkmarx.

Programming Languages: Demonstrate expertise in one or more programming languages, preferably C# or Python.

System Integration: Implement automation and system integration for various build platforms.

Best Practices and Solutions: Publish CI/CD best practices, patterns, and reusable solutions.

Incident Management: Troubleshoot and address problems in the DevSecOps domain, ensuring incident tracking tools are updated.

Service Uptime and Response Time: Ensure that service uptime and response time SLAs/OLAs are met or exceeded.

Engineering Platforms and Solutions: Contribute to the creation and publication of engineering platforms and solutions.
