About The Role The Boeing Company is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join our Phantom Works team located in Berkeley, Missouri. This role is vital in supporting Boeing’s Defense, Space & Security (BDS) division, particularly focusing on the development and enhancement of mission-critical systems for aircraft such as F-15, F/A-18, and F-22. The successful candidate will be integral in designing, developing, and implementing software capabilities that enable network operations for tactical fighter aircraft. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and specialists to develop platform-agnostic software solutions that address complex operational challenges. Qualifications Candidates should possess a minimum of one year of relevant experience in software development, including familiarity with software life cycles, configuration management, and agile practices. A solid understanding of requirements analysis, software design, documentation, and process control is essential. Experience working in CI/CD environments using tools such as Jenkins or GitLab is highly desirable. Proficiency in programming languages like C or C is required, with a strong emphasis on code quality and testing. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data science, physics, or related fields from an accredited institution is preferred. An active U.S. Security Clearance is a plus, along with experience in aerospace or mission systems, data links, sensors, or modeling and simulation. Candidates must be U.S. citizens due to export control requirements and be able to obtain necessary security clearances.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of mission systems software, including models and simulations related to sensors and weapons systems.
- Participate in the development of use cases and detailed software requirements to ensure alignment with operational goals.
- Develop and execute test cases and unit tests in parallel with software development to validate functionality and performance.
- Document testing procedures and results comprehensively for review and future reference.
- Engage in peer reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and functionality.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to define and refine software architecture and design strategies.
- Work within an agile, multi-disciplinary team responsible for requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and support of advanced mission systems software solutions.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and technological innovation to enhance system performance and reliability.
