, our facilities, and our mission.Minimum Qualifications Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:Four years of experience or training in pipefitting, steam fitting, or plumbing.Job Specification The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be foundJob Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement of all plumbing, sewage, water distribution, and gas systems throughout the facility to ensure safe and reliable operation.

  • Respond to and resolve system failures or urgent maintenance needs while serving in a rotating weekend on-call capacity, ensuring continuous operational support.

  • Train, supervise, and direct assigned inmate workers in performing plumbing and pipefitting tasks, ensuring adherence to safety standards, proper tool use, and established maintenance procedures.

Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

  • Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
  • An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
  • This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
