Technical Writer Intern – Documentation Tools

Requirements

Must have:

– Demonstration of a solid grasp of business principles – Must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in a related field – U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to the nature of the work – Will undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information – Preferred major in English – Adept in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams – Capability to research unfamiliar technologies and communicate them effectively to end-users – Strong oral and written communication abilities – Exceptional attention to detail – Experience with an XML editor, such as XMLSpy or Arbortext, is advantageous – Familiarity with basic graphic design principles is a plus – Understanding of repository-based content management systems like TortoiseSVN is preferred

Responsibilities:

• Produce and refine technical documentation in various formats (like .doc, .PDF, HTML, and XML/SGML-tagged IETMs) – Ensure adherence to military specifications and documentation standards – Maintain the life cycle of technical documentation, including review and update cycles – Generate supporting graphics (such as functional block diagrams) in several formats (e.g., .JPEG, .PNG) to enhance documentation – Conduct quality assurance checks to verify the technical and grammatical precision of documentation – Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) during the development and editing process to confirm technical accuracy
