Analytical Scientist

Location: Onsite – San Diego, CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Duration: 6-Month Contract (coverage for leave)

Pay: 40-44 USD per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Scientist with a strong background in biochemical, biophysical, and analytical sciences to join a Method Development & Transfer team. In this role, you will design, develop, and transfer analytical assays used to characterize critical components supporting reagent development and manufacturing.

This position is highly collaborative and plays a key role in ensuring analytical methods are robust, validated, and ready for use in regulated manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize analytical methods for oligonucleotides, enzymes, and liquid reagent consumables
  • Apply analytical techniques such as HPLC, UV-Vis, and fluorescence spectroscopy (LC-MS strongly preferred)
  • Support method development, qualification, validation, and transfer into manufacturing and QC environments
  • Partner cross-functionally with Development, Quality Control, and Manufacturing teams
  • Design and support QC assays to enable new product readiness
  • Prepare technical documentation to support regulated manufacturing processes
  • Select, qualify, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments and software
  • Define process requirements including instrumentation, documentation, and training needs
  • Plan and execute laboratory experiments with a high level of scientific rigor
  • Analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical recommendations
  • May provide guidance or oversight to junior staff or research associates

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline
  • 3-5 years of industry experience in analytical or biochemical method development
  • Hands-on experience with HPLC (required)
  • Experience with UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy
  • Strong background in analytical characterization of enzymes and/or oligonucleotides
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LC-MS or other advanced analytical techniques
  • Exposure to method validation and transfer into Manufacturing or QC
  • Experience working in regulated or GMP environments
  • Familiarity with next-generation sequencing platforms
  • Experience working with laboratory databases or LIMS systems
