Chief Technology Officer
Company Overview
We are a high-growth AI infrastructure startup building an enterprise-ready, AI-powered compute marketplace. The platform aggregates and orchestrates GPU capacity across a large and growing network of next-generation cloud providers, enabling enterprises to access scalable, reliable compute for advanced AI workloads.
The business has achieved significant early traction, including partnerships with dozens of infrastructure providers, a six-figure GPU estate already live, and a multi-billion-dollar commercial pipeline. The founding team has a strong track record of building and scaling market-defining platforms, raising substantial institutional capital, and executing enterprise go-to-market strategies.
This is a rare opportunity to define the technical foundation of a hyperscale AI platform from an early but proven starting point.
The Role
We are seeking a hands-on, deeply technical CTO to own the architecture, development, and scaling of the platform end-to-end.
This is not a purely strategic or people-only role. The successful candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves, writing code, making architectural decisions, and building a world-class engineering organisation over time.
The CTO will be responsible for designing and delivering a hyperscale-level platform capable of orchestrating large-scale GPU infrastructure across data centres and cloud environments, while meeting enterprise expectations around performance, security, reliability, and compliance.
The platform is everything.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform & Architecture
- Own the end-to-end technical vision and architecture for a large-scale AI compute marketplace.
- Design systems capable of orchestrating and scheduling GPU workloads across heterogeneous environments (on-prem data centres, neoclouds, and public cloud).
- Build for hyperscale from day one: multi-tenant, resilient, observable, and secure by default.
- Make pragmatic technology choices that balance speed, robustness, and long-term scalability.
Hands-On Engineering
- Remain actively involved in development as needed, particularly in the early stages.
- Contribute to core platform components across backend, infrastructure, and integrations.
- Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, reliability, and deployment.
GPU & Infrastructure Leadership
- Deep ownership of GPU deployment models, performance characteristics, and capacity management.
- Strong understanding of modern data centre infrastructure (networking, storage, bare metal, accelerators).
- Architect hybrid and multi-cloud deployments with a strong grasp of cloud primitives and cost/performance trade-offs.
Security, Reliability & Enterprise Readiness
- Ensure the platform meets enterprise requirements around security, isolation, compliance, and availability.
- Build robust monitoring, observability, and incident response capabilities.
- Partner closely with commercial teams to support enterprise customers and large-scale deployments.
Team & Culture
- Build and lead a high-performing engineering organisation as the company scales.
- Hire exceptional full-stack, platform, and infrastructure engineers.
- Foster a culture of ownership, speed, and technical excellence.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Background & Experience
- Proven experience as a senior technical leader (CTO, VP Engineering, Principal Architect) in a high-growth startup or scale-up.
- Strong full-stack engineering background with the ability to work across backend, infrastructure, and platform layers.
- Deep experience with GPU infrastructure, AI/ML platforms, or large-scale compute systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
Technical Strengths
- Strong understanding of GPU workloads, scheduling, performance optimisation, and capacity planning.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and modern infrastructure tooling.
- Solid grasp of data centre architecture, networking, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience building platforms that operate reliably at scale, not just prototypes.
Mindset
- Builder mentality: sleeves-up, pragmatic, and execution-focused.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving quickly without sacrificing fundamentals.
- Product-oriented thinker who understands that platform decisions directly impact commercial outcomes.
- Able to partner effectively with a commercially strong founding team.
Why This Role
- Opportunity to define the technical foundation of a category-defining AI infrastructure platform.
- Immediate scale: significant live GPU capacity and enterprise-level demand.
- Strong commercial momentum paired with experienced, well-capitalised founders.
- A rare chance to build hyperscale infrastructure without the constraints of legacy systems.
