About The Role The Business Analyst role within PG&E’s Vegetation Management (VM) department—specifically in the Customer Experience & Stakeholder Engagement team—is a pivotal position that supports strategic decision-making through comprehensive data analysis and reporting. This hybrid position based in Oakland involves working closely with leadership to develop insights, identify trends, and track progress toward operational and financial goals. The Business Analyst will be responsible for conducting research, creating data models, preparing reports, and supporting process improvements. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to influence key initiatives and contribute to PG&E’s mission of delivering safe and reliable energy services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in data analysis, business strategy, or related fields
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI applications
  • Familiarity with Utility Vegetation Management program management is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of analytical methods, approaches, and tactics
  • Experience with what-if modeling analysis and understanding of how various factors influence business outcomes
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively
  • Adaptability to changing business conditions and ambiguity
  • Ability to influence and gain buy-in from stakeholders at all organizational levels

Responsibilities

  • Compile, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to support business decision-making and strategic initiatives
  • Develop and maintain data models for scenario analysis, forecasting, and operational planning
  • Create, update, and distribute standard, custom, and ad-hoc reports to track key performance metrics
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by monitoring actual spend versus planned budgets and forecasts
  • Research industry best practices and develop benchmarks to inform internal strategies
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and tools across relevant teams
  • Lead cross-functional projects, defining scope, managing resources, and ensuring timely delivery
  • Present findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with VP, Directors, and Managers across departments to support business objectives
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior Business Analysts, fostering a collaborative team environment
