Job Overview

The Conflicts Analyst is part of a team that processes all conflict check requests at the firm, including those relating to prospective clients and matters, new clients and matters, clients and matters relating to lateral candidates, and more. The Conflicts Analyst performs preliminary analyses of conflict reports and drafts conflicts summaries flagging any potential conflict issues. The Conflicts Analyst performs corporate research on entities submitted to be searched to confirm the validity of the entity as identified (flagging potential spelling errors), as well as identifying any relevant ultimate parents or associated entities that should also be added to the search. The Conflicts Analyst manages a Conflicts mailbox through which they respond to inquiries from Partners, Associates, and other staff. The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for maintaining the integrity of client and matter party data, which is critical to the conflict clearance process.

This role has a remote working arrangement. Potential candidates must reside within one of the 10 states in which we have a physical office. In this role, you will report to the Conflicts Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and perform conflict searches for all prospective and new clients and matters of the firm using Intapp Open, the firm’s current conflicts software.
  • Review and verify the affiliations associated with parties to be searched based on the matter descriptions provided by the requesting attorneys.
  • Perform corporate research as necessary to validate the identities of the parties included in conflict search requests and add additional related parties to searches where appropriate.
  • Analyze conflict search results to identify and report potentially relevant results, including potential conflicts of interest.
  • Present the results of conflict searches in clear and comprehensive reports to Conflict Attorneys, firm attorneys and staff.
  • Manage and maintain the integrity of data stored in the conflicts database.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills by compiling comprehensive reports of clients and matters as directed by firm management.
  • Help to facilitate the resolution of potential conflicts of interest through written and oral communication with affected attorneys.
  • Provide professional and timely customer service to all firm attorneys and staff.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements including providing after-hours coverage on occasion for emergent conflict requests. Must be flexible with overtime throughout the work week, weekends, and in some cases holidays.

Skills/Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in conflicts, new business intake, or a related field in a law firm environment.
  • Knowledge of conflict of interest principles and applicable rules of professional conduct.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Intapp Open software experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Dun and Bradstreet, Hoovers, Lexis, Westlaw, and/or Pacer, and the ability to interpret the data produced by those systems is a plus.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement if/when escalating matters to the Conflict Attorney team.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in-person and virtually).
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on complex requests in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work with and handle confidential matters.
  • Proven problem solving, critical thinking, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Unquestioned integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Proficient in web-based conference call/web-sharing applications.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $65,000 – $80,000. Actual salaries will depend on a candidate’s geographic location, relevant experience, and skillset. The salary range listed is just one component of Blank Rome’s total compensation package for employees. Other monetary rewards include annual discretionary bonuses based on performance and profit-sharing contributions based on eligibility and firm profitability.
