Android Developer (Kotlin Focus)

Contract to hire

Columbus OH – Onsite

Minimum Qualifications

  • 90% native Android development experience with a strong emphasis on Kotlin (heavy usage).

  • Working knowledge of Java (legacy support; migration ongoing).

  • Hands-on experience integrating Jetpack libraries (Lifecycle, Navigation, Room, WorkManager, etc.).

  • Proficiency with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Espresso).

  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for agile project management and documentation.

  • Solid understanding of MVVM architecture and implementation in Android applications.

  • Experience with Dagger 1 & 2 for dependency injection and component integration.

  • Strong grasp of Android best practices including performance optimization, security, and accessibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modular app development and scalable architecture patterns.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for Android (Gradle, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Exposure to Kotlin coroutines and Flow for asynchronous programming.
  • Familiarity with Compose for modern UI development.
  • Contributions to open-source Android projects or published apps on Google Play.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications with a focus on Kotlin.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Jira and Confluence to track progress and document solutions.
  • Implement MVVM architecture and ensure clean separation of concerns.
  • Integrate Jetpack components to enhance app stability and scalability.
  • Apply Dagger 1 & 2 for dependency injection and manage component lifecycles.
  • Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
  • Follow and advocate for Android best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the team.
