Executive Vice President, Environmental & Energy Consulting

Central & Eastern United States (REMOTE)

Compensation $250,000 – $300,0000

Overview

A privately owned, independent environmental consulting firm is seeking an Executive Vice President to lead its environmental and energy practice across the Central and Eastern United States.

This role is designed for a senior environmental leader who values technical integrity, autonomy, and long-term stewardship over scale-at-all-costs growth. The firm delivers high-impact environmental services across the energy, utilities, infrastructure, and industrial sectors, with a strong reputation for regulatory credibility and client trust.

The EVP will operate as a core member of the executive leadership team, with broad authority over operations, growth, and technical direction.

Executive Scope

  • Enterprise-level leadership within a small, independently owned environmental consultancy
  • Oversight of multi-state environmental and energy project delivery
  • Direct responsibility for strategy, operational performance, and senior staff leadership
  • Significant influence over the firm’s direction, culture, and long-term positioning

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental consulting activities across energy generation, transmission, remediation, infrastructure, and industrial portfolios
  • Maintain executive oversight of NEPA, permitting, environmental compliance, site assessment, remediation, and sustainability initiatives
  • Drive thoughtful, sustainable growth while preserving the firm’s technical reputation and independence
  • Act as a senior client-facing executive with energy developers, utilities, and industrial clients
  • Ensure rigorous quality control, regulatory defensibility, and project performance
  • Mentor senior technical staff and develop the next generation of environmental leaders
  • Partner with ownership on strategic planning, hiring decisions, and investment priorities

Candidate Profile

  • 15 years in environmental consulting, ideally with energy-sector exposure
  • Senior leadership experience within small to mid-sized consulting firms
  • Strong grounding in federal and state environmental regulations
  • Comfortable balancing technical leadership, client relationships, and operational accountability
  • Motivated by impact, autonomy, and long-term firm building, not bureaucracy
