Safety Consultant
Position Overview
We are seeking a Health and Safety Consultant to support the Pennsylvania State Police in advancing workplace safety initiatives. This full-time hybrid position offers an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in developing, implementing, and evaluating safety programs across state police operations statewide. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in occupational safety and health, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work independently while supporting various state police offices and work sites.
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) with a hybrid work schedule, 3 weeks of paid time off (PTO), and 12 paid holidays annually.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage tasks outlined in the PA State Police Safety Action Plan, including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and tracking progress.
- Develop, customize, and deliver health and safety training for state police personnel—both in-person and virtually—to meet agency needs.
- Conduct safety audits and assessments in accordance with the Accident and Illness Prevention Program (AIPP) and internal agency policies.
- Analyze injury and illness data, prepare technical reports, identify trends, and make recommendations to reduce workplace incidents.
- Support compliance efforts related to injury/illness prevention, industrial hygiene, and overall workplace safety.
- Deliver on-site safety consulting services across state police offices and worksites as needed.
- Adapt quickly to changing client needs while maintaining high standards of customer service and professionalism.
- Foster relationships across all organizational levels to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Travel to assigned worksites as needed, including periodic visits to Harrisburg, PA.
Qualifications
- AIPP qualification as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (qualification link).
- Minimum of two (2) years of occupational safety experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation.
Hybrid Position Details
- This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, including:
- Two-three days per week in-person at our office in Harrisburg,
- Telework days as assigned,
- On-site visits to field locations and work sites as required.
