Python Data Engineer- | NY/CHI/TX/US Remote

A leading global trading firm is expanding its Weather team and hiring a Python Data Engineer to build and scale data pipelines that directly support forecasting and trading.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable Python-based data pipelines.
  • Build and optimize ETL workflows for large, complex datasets.
  • Collaborate with researchers and quants to deliver high-quality data.
  • Implement validation, monitoring, and error handling.
  • Work across cloud-based infrastructure and modern data warehouses.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in data engineering or related role.
  • Strong Python (Pandas, NumPy, FastAPI).
  • Experience with weather/climate data (Copernicus, Xarray, Zarr, NetCDF).
  • Proficiency with ETL frameworks (Airflow, NiFi, etc.) and SQL.
  • Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Bonus: Docker/Kubernetes, Spark, or commodities exposure (Ags, Nat Gas, Power).
